Tires have only been on a week. I assume this is sealant that’s weeping out...I’ve never seen anything like this before.

Tire shops use soap to act as a lubricant when installing tires over the wheel, most likely this is the residual  oozing out.

Even after a week?

That’s just soap residue from mounting the tires. It should be gone after a good wash or two.

How do you like the P Zero Nero? I have a set of P Zero All Season Plus going on my GTI next week. I like the regular summer P Zeros on my Camaro so I thought I  would give the all seasons a shot on the GTI.

A week seems pretty normal to me, really depends how much rain and/or washings the tires have had.

ooh, that is weird....

How do you like those Pirellis?  I have been looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ but probably won’t pull the trigger until fall...

I just put the Pilot Sport A/S 3+ all around and love them. Had run flat P irellis before and won't do them again.

In a nutshell, I’m torn. They’re probably the most quiet and comfortable tires I’ve had on the WRX so far, and at 114 a tire they were decently priced too.

However I think that comes at the price of grip and steering feel. Compared to the continental extremecontact sports that I had on before these, they feel like all seasons in terms of steering feel. These tires also have what feels like an absurdly soft sidewall compared to the contis , which I can appreciate comfort-wise...b ut I can feel the sidewalls squirming under hard cornering. I made the tires squeal on a tight turn that even my very worn contis wouldn’t have blinked an eye at.

They seem competent enough in the rain, and fairly stable at speed so that’s good. I don’t know how similar the all seasons are to the summers though.

See my reply to TrickJos.

Basically I think the tire is a compromise. I might be too picky for DD duties but I did have some really nice tires on before these so it’ll be an adjustment.

Interesting. Most reviews put the P Zero all season plus right up there with the competition in all categories. I haven’t looked at any reviews for the Neros. I chose the Pirellis over the Pilot Sport A/ S3+ because there were many reviews saying the Michelin’s were noisy, and I’ve had a good experience with the summer P Zeros. I’m really looking forward to trying them out. I’m sure they will be a nice step up from the factory tires.

Reviews on the P Zero Nero GTs are similarly high. They are great tires in their own way, I’m probably being nitpicky to be honest.

I’m pretty nitpicky too. We shall see. Trying to keep my expectations low because all I really need is a decent all-around tire.

The Michelins are super-grippy, yet deliver a quiet ride. They wear quickly though and are not cheap!
